We found a really neat television commercial from 1963 posted on the net.  This is primarily an advertisement for the 1963 Corvette but it includes several other Chevrolet products from the 1963 model year.

The various construction crews are making real progress this week.  The weather has been very favourable and everything is coming together.

They have been pouring the cement for the shop floor since early this morning.  By late tonight it should be all smoothed out and dyed.  We can’t wait to see the finished product!

The crew out in the parking area is getting more of the post bases, curbing and walkways done.  This will hopefully allow us to get a coat of asphalt down before the freeze moves in.

While all this is going on, the building crew has managed to install most of the window framing extrusions for the showroom area.  Now the building has a more defined presence.

News flash!   The new 2009 Impala will be built in Oshawa.  This will be the much anticipated return of the rear wheel drive Impala model.

Production will take place in the same plant as the Camaro.  The vehicle will be built on the same platform as the Camaro, and the (Australian) Holden Calais Sedan.  It is anticipated that the build production will start in late 2008.

The new rear wheel drive model will have a longer wheelbase with shorter front and rear overhangs.  This will not only enhance the ride quality, but it will enable a larger interior space than the current 2007 Impala.

The outstanding quality produced by the Oshawa plant will ensure a quality vehicle that is sure to have rear drive afficianados excited.

We will let you know more as the info becomes available.

Since the Camaro was dropped from the Chevrolet vehicle roster at the end of the 2002 model year, there has always been rumours that it would come back in one form or another.  The best news is that is will be back as a 2009 model and looking better than ever.

For all of you Chevy enthusiasts, especially the Camaro fans, there is a great video out there that has be skillfully created and posted on Youtube.com by CamaroHighway.com.  This was done with the assistance of General Motors and Gibson Chevrolet (from South Holland, Illinois)

If you have ever owned, driven, ridden in or wanted a Camaro over the years, this will get your blood pumping!

November 10th ConstructionThe weather this week has been better than was originally predicted.  Due to this good fortune provided by nature, the crews have been able to forge ahead.

The crew working in the front parking area has poured a lot of curbing and has installed a lot of square footage of unistone.  This is all in preparation for the initial coat of asphalt.

Meanwhile another crew has been working hard on installing the roofing materials to seal the steel roof covering.

Lots of high energy on the site today!

Building progress during fall weather November 9, 2006

Ground Breaking CeremonyThe weather has been kind to us today.  It would seem that rain has been the dominant weather system during this fall couple with some temperatures that have been less than seasonal.   This week has been different and that is of great benefit to us.

The new building construction is still at that phase when we are somewhat dependant on the weather to allow work to be done.  Especially at this point in time as they are working dilligently to complete the curbing, lamp post bases and drainage systems for the parking area that will be in front of the new showroom.

Watching all the progress that has been accomplished to date, makes us reminisce about the how the land was just a parking area before the construction started.

When I get chance I will post a current pic showing the progress to date.

Expect the unexpected……… November 7, 2006

This morning was a nice mild day although somewhat wet due to the on and off rain that had been falling since last night.  It is one of those days that is great for getting all those things done such as business visits, since the inclement weather will keep you and your client from wanting play hookey and go golfing.

I had lined up a few meetings for today and was very eager to get on the road.  Since my current vehicle was being shown to a prospective client, it was all clean and sitting by the showroom.  As per usual, I checked for something to drive and was told I should try the new 2007 Silverado Pick Up.

The truck was very easy to find on the lot.  Parked in front of our new building construction site, it was surrounded by many of the skilled tradesmen from the site.  This is the first 2007 4×4 model that we have received and it draws a lot of attention due to some great styling cues taken from the new Tahoe/ Suburban line.

Now, I have driven Suburban, Tahoe and Silverado models for years and currently have an Avalanche in the garage at home, so I figured this would be just another truck.  I was very pleasantly surprised!

Not since Chevrolet started using Hydroformed frame rails in their truck line, have I been this impressed with a redesigned Silverado.  While pickups have come along way over the last decade, this is another level all together.  Being an LTZ model this one sports all the nice accoutrements such as leather seating and, well…., power everything.  There is no mistaking that this is a luxury vehicle.   Being a Crew Cab, the interior is very much like a Suburban / Tahoe.

Truck and Agile are not words that usually get used in a sentence together, until now!   The Vortec 5.3 V8 creates a lot of low end torque and you just float along with the traffic pulling away from a light without the vehicle having to work at it.  The thing that amazed me is that there is no sway or wallowing when manouvering through traffic at any speed.  All this and a smooth ride too!

I am impressed.  And being somewhat jaded, that is really saying something.   Now the only problem is that I really want one.   Let me see, who do I know that  needs a low mileage Avalanche…………………..
